Leon Askin
I read the other day that Leon Askin, who played General Burkhalter in Hogan's Heroes, passed away. I hadn't known it but he was actually a survivor of the Hitler days in Bulgaria. He and his family escaped to America after time in a concentration camp.
The man escapes the Nazis, then ends up playing one as a buffoon on a show that portrays them all as bumbling fools that Hogan and the gang run rings around. He had to get some strange satisfaction from that.
May he rest in peace.
